LCSA CAMPUS DISC GOLF COURSE

LPSA Campus Disc Golf Course (CDGC) information:

The LPSA CDGC was developed and opened in 2021. The 9 hole course encompasses the North greenspace of Lethbridge Polytechnic. Starting at the left side of the tennis court entrance and finishing on the right side. The course was implemented to address the need for safe and affordable outdoor physical activity at Lethbridge Polytechnic.

During the COVID 19 pandemic, LPSA was able to analyze the availability of outdoor physical activity options for our students and make an improvement for our students and community.

The course on campus provides students with a means to get outside, exercise, and socialize safely. A round of disc golf can easily be completed within an hour. providing an excellent and accessible stress relief activity for students and staff over lunch or in-between classes or studying. With the COVID-19 pandemic, there are very few activities that allow for safe socializing with the students, employees, and community members after the pandemic.

In partnership with community partners, we have consistently hosted seasonal tournaments and beginners clinics to facilitate the growth of disc golf in Lethbridge.

Trees, shrubs, and terrain changes in and around the basket provide challenging obstacles for the golfer. The hole is complete when the "putt" or disc lands in the basket. The only required equipment for the activity is discs, which range from $10 - $25. In the beginning stages of play, one disc will suffice to participate. As participants become more interested and advanced, they can invest in more specific discs (drivers for long-distance or putters for short distances and higher accuracy).

Where can I get discs?

Students and staff can use loaner discs from the LPSA office (CE 1350), or Recreation Services (PE 1413). If you are interested in purchasing your own discs, you can take a look at the display in the LPSA office or contact our friends and sponsors at Horizon discs or stop by Games Galore the Billiard store in the mall.

Want a better look at the course?
